What it’s like

Glen Moray distils part of its malt with peated barley every year, something unusual in Speyside, and bottles it in this version of the Classic range. It is a smoky but friendly malt: the peat smoke mixes with the fruit, vanilla and sweetness of American oak. It doesn’t have Islay’s iodine. It is a gentle, cheap gateway to smoky whisky.

Soft peat smoke, apple, vanilla and a touch of pepper.
Palate
Sweet and smoky. Fresh fruit, caramel, wood smoke and spice.
Finish
Medium, with soft smoke and a sweet hint of vanilla.
