- You don’t pay more for buying through those links.
- The commission never changes the order of recommendations, rankings or scores.
1. How WhiskyMatch makes money
WhiskyMatch is free for its users. It is funded through affiliate programmes: when you click a link to a shop and end up buying, the shop (or its affiliate network) pays WhiskyMatch a small commission. There is no advertising on the website, we don’t sell your data and we don’t charge brands to be placed higher.
2. You don’t pay more
The price you pay is the same whether you come from WhiskyMatch or go straight to the shop. The shop bears the commission.
3. The commission doesn’t influence what you see
- Recommendations and “Your profile”. They are ordered by how well they suit your palate and by how the community rates them. Whether there is a buy link, or whether a shop pays more, doesn’t enter the calculation.
- Rankings, lists and scores. They come from the votes and ratings of registered people. No shop or brand can improve them.
- Price comparison. When there are offers, they are ordered by availability and price. Nothing else.

4. How to recognise an affiliate link
Next to the buying blocks we tell you there is an affiliate relationship. Technically, these links carry the rel="sponsored" attribute and open in a new tab. Links to WhiskyMatch’s own pages are never affiliate links.
5. Shops with active links
There are no active affiliate links on the website right now. This list will be updated when there are, with the name of each shop.
6. Prices and availability
When we show prices, they will come from the shops’ catalogues or their official interfaces, never from estimates or other websites, and they will carry the date of the last update. They may have changed since then: the price that counts is always the one you see in the shop when you buy. We never show a made-up price.
7. Shop cookies
When you click an affiliate link, the shop or its network may set cookies on its domain to record the sale. Each shop manages them. More information in the cookie policy.
8. Sponsored content
We don’t accept payment to position a whisky or to write reviews. If there were ever sponsored content, it would be marked with a “Sponsored” label, explained here and it would not affect scores or recommendations.
