What it’s like

Ballechin is the peated malt from the Edradour distillery, and it revives the name of an old distillery in the area. Its ten-year-old is a Highland whisky with plenty of smoke, earthy and sweet, with fruit, vanilla and spice. It is bottled at 46% ABV, without chill filtration. It doesn’t have Islay’s maritime character. It is an uncommon and very interesting smoky malt.

Nose
Earthy peat smoke, ripe fruit, vanilla and pepper, with some leather.
Palate
Intense. Smoke, caramel, fruit, spice and an earthy background, with good texture.
Finish
Long and smoky, with spice and a sweet hint of vanilla.
