What it’s like

Mortlach is known as the Beast of Dufftown for its powerful, meaty spirit, the result of a complex distillation system the brand describes as 2.81 times. The twelve-year-old, named after one of its stills, combines sherry and bourbon casks. It is rich and robust, with dried fruit, chocolate, spice and a meaty hint. A Speyside malt with plenty of body, very different from the area’s lighter malts.

Nose
Dried fruit, chocolate and spice, with a meaty, malty hint.
Palate
Robust and rich. Raisins, toffee, cocoa and pepper, with good texture.
Finish
Long, warm and spicy, with hints of dark fruit and cocoa.
