What it’s like

An annual Lagavulin edition that takes the sixteen-year-old whisky and gives it a finish in Pedro Ximénez casks, according to the brand. The sweet sherry softens and rounds off the distillery’s deep smoke, adding raisins, dates, chocolate and toffee. It is a very successful combination of smokiness and sweetness, with a silky texture. Each edition carries its distillation year, so it can vary slightly.

Nose
Deep peat smoke, raisins and dates, with chocolate and sea salt.
Palate
Silky and rich. Peat, dried fruit, toffee and spice, with intense sweetness.
Finish
Very long, smoky and sweet, with hints of sherry and iodine.
