What it’s like

Gouden Carolus is the malt from the Belgian brewery Het Anker, in Mechelen, which distils it at its De Molenberg estate from the wort of its beer of the same name, without the hops. That brewing base gives it a fruity, cereal-led profile, with honey, ripe fruit, spice and vanilla. It is bottled at 46% ABV. No smoke. An original and very friendly Belgian malt.

Nose
Cereal, honey, ripe fruit and a touch of spice and vanilla.
Palate
Rounded. Malt, caramel, fruit, soft spice and oak, with some honey.
Finish
Medium, sweet and spicy, with a hint of cereal and honey.
