What it’s like

Craigellachie distils a dense, meaty whisky, thanks to its worm tub condensers. Its seventeen-year-old keeps that robust character with ripe fruit, wax, spice and a very faint hint of sulphur, typical of the house. No peat. It is an unconventional malt, with plenty of texture, for those looking for something different in Speyside. It is worth trying with a few drops of water, which open up the fruit.

Nose
Ripe fruit, beeswax, pineapple and a touch of spice.
Palate
Dense and oily. Tropical fruit, cereal, spice and a mineral hint.
Finish
Long, with spice, oak and a hint of wax and pineapple.
