What it’s like

Benromach, owned by Gordon & MacPhail, aims to revive the Speyside style of the mid-20th century, when many of the area’s malts had a light touch of peat. The ten-year-old combines bourbon and sherry casks, with an oloroso finish, and offers fruit, malt, spice and very well integrated soft smoke. It is a very balanced and different malt, perfect for those who want a delicate smoky touch without Islay’s intensity.

Nose
Red fruit, malt and soft wood smoke, with spice and vanilla.
Palate
Rounded and balanced. Malt, dried fruit, spice and light smoke.
Finish
Medium to long, with delicate smoke and a background of dried fruit.
