What it’s like

Yoichi, on the island of Hokkaido, was Nikka’s first distillery and still heats its stills directly with coal, something very unusual. Its no-age-statement malt is robust and smoky, with peat, salt, ripe fruit, malt and spice, in a style reminiscent of coastal Scotch malts. It is a great option for those who enjoy smoke and want to get to know the most intense side of Japanese whisky.

Nose
Peat smoke, salt and ripe fruit, with malt and spice.
Palate
Robust and smoky. Caramel, fruit, peat and sea notes, with good texture.
Finish
Long, smoky and briny, with a hint of malt and spice.
